General Information

The Alabama Opportunity Scholarship Fund believes that parents know the best way to help their children find success. We believe that every child is unique and that every child learns differently. Most will thrive in their assigned neighborhood school. However, there are some children who will need a different learning environment to reach his or her potential. It's about giving children the tools to help them succeed. Sometimes that means attending another public school in a different neighborhood or a private school.

AOSF was created to empower low-income parents to choose what is best for their child.

Parents apply directly with AOSF, which assures full compliance with the law. Awards are distributed on a first come, first served basis with priority given to renewal students and new students zoned for and attending a "failing" public school Parents can choose from any of the schools on the Participating Schools list. Parents may apply to any school, however the child must meet any requirement the school has.

The 2017-2018 Application Season has closed. Renewal applicants can still access their application below.
